In a move awaited for many years, Stacks is attempting to bring smart contracts to bitcoin through a new side that it claims will unlock hundreds of millions of dollars in #DeFi investments.
In its whitepaper, Stacks aims to create a new digital asset, ‘Stacks Bitcoin’ or sBTC, that aims to make Bitcoin fully programmable. sBTC is pegged 1:1 with #BTC which enables it to develop smart
contracts on the Stacks platform and easily reconvert to Bitcoin.
The new development, if achieved, will be considered a significant breakthrough in the Web3 ecosystem and may challenge existing giat protocols such as Ethereum.
